Former Liverpool skipper Daniel Agger says he is impressed with the Reds this term under manager Jurgen Klopp.

The veteran defender was in attendance when Liverpool clashed with archrivals Manchester United in the English Premier League. The retired Danish international believes that his former club are on the right path to meet his expectations this term. He was impressed with their performance in Klopp’s debut season, and believes they would meet expectations this year.

“It’s going well so far. To be honest, I have some expectations this year, especially after last year. Jurgen is looking good for the club, I think he’s doing well. He has some great ideas and the way he talks with the media, everything, I like,” the 31-year old told Liverpoolfc.com.

The player started his career at his native country before going pro. After eight years at Anfield, he returned home to his boyhood side, Brondby. Agger was part of the special 2013/14 Reds team that scored over a hundred goals, missing the EPL unbelievably. The current team is set to replicate such feats under Klopp this term.

“It means you can let a few in and still win the game – that’s some confidence to have in a team. As a defender, it’s not always the best because when you attack a lot, you obviously let more goals in. But it’s easier when you can score two, three, four or five sometimes. It’s easier to let one or two in,” Agger added.

Liverpool have started the new campaign well, thrashing Arsenal 4-3 and getting some incredible wins. Their only blunder was losing to the season’s new joiners Burnley 2-0. They are fighting for the top spot with Arsenal and Manchester City, but the next few weeks will really separate the contenders from the pretenders with the fixtures that are lined up before Christmas.
