Daniel Agger Biography

Daniel Agger Biography from contacttheplayers.com

Daniel Agger is a defender for Denmark and Liverpool in the English Premier League. He shows maturity beyond his years, and has proven that he can be relied upon to produce great performances consistently. At 6’3, he has the height to handle most attackers, whilst his hard tackling and willingness to scrap and fight for every ball are appreciated by the Kop faithful. Having made his debut for Denmark when he was just 21 years old, Agger is now an established first-team defender.

In the January 2006 transfer window, Daniel Agger was signed by Liverpool for £5.5m – becoming the most expensive defender to be sold by a Danish club. Injuries hampered his first half a season, but by the start of the following season he had nailed down a first-team spot – ahead of fan-favourite Sami Hyypia. Success in the Champions League for Liverpool proved that Agger had made it to the very top of the game.

Injuries and the acquisition of Martin Skrtel have kept Agger frustrated on the sidelines, though after an extended run in the side over the 2008/09 Christmas period he made himself invaluable to the team, and formed a good partnership with Jamie Carragher at the heart of the Liverpool defence.

Daniel Agger made his debut for Denmark on 2nd June 2005, after he had been voted the Young Player of the Year. He had previously represented his country at U-20 and U-21 levels, and scored some memorable long-distance goals. He has managed to secure a spot in the Danish first-team, in a formidable defence alongside Bogelund and Koldrup. Denmark still have every hope of making it to the 2010 World Cup Finals.
